Name: Marija R.
Mother tongue: Croatian
Occupation: Ethnologist
My object: a case with lacework, unfinished
My story about it:

This case was given to my grandmother who filled it with various handicrafts. In it I found patterns and unfinished handicrafts manufactured in different techniques of fabric works – nec (net-like lace), šlinga (eyelet hole), crochet and some industrial lace. This motivated and inspired me to take up lacework myself, so that I give purpose to the contents of this case, and to put something in it that I made. And it was this handiwork that became one of the key factors in my decision to become an ethnologist. Through textile, I became fascinated with the culture of the past and started doing handiwork.
