Name: Maria K.
Mother tongue: German
Occupation: Culture Historian, Trainee
My object: A book by my grandfather
My story about it:

My grandfather migrated from the Banat region to Germany after World War II. Thirty years later and in the grip of homesickness, he wrote a book on his home village Wiesenhaid. To me, this book represents the Romanian part of my family which is nearly forgotten. It does not only represent the past, however, but also the present and my love of books and foreign cultures. His book will be a directory to me in the future since I am planning to travel to Romania following my ancestral traits. My internship at the Berlin Museum of European Cultures and not least this exhibition have inspired me to undertake this journey.
