Name: Slavko M.
Mother tongue: Serbian
Occupation: Musician, Taxi Driver
My object: Accordion
My story about it:
I like to play music. My favourite instrument is the accordion. One day, while I was studying music in Serbia, I was granted a scholarship for an exchange term by the Music conservatory at St. Petersburg. Of course, I took my accordion with me. At St. Petersburg, however, I exchanged the instrument with a fellow student from Russia: I gave him my accordion, and he gave me his with its many extra registers. I was very happy about the exchange because these registers are very important when playing typical Balkan music, especially when improvising. Also, your prestige is much higher in Serbia when playing an accordion with extra-registers.
